When it comes to new equipment launches at the start of each year, it’s easy to become focused on the battle between the best drivers or irons and as a result, some of the other aspects of a golfer’s bag can be overlooked.

Having said that, I think that Callaway’s new Elyte Fairway Wood was one of the most impressive bits of kit that I’ve tested this winter and it forms part of their extensive Elyte Fairway and Hybrid range for 2025.
Callaway being Callaway, there are five different fairway wood models and three different hybrid models in total in the current range, meaning that there should be an option for everyone in an area of the bag where lots of amateur golfers can struggle.
Callaway Elyte Fairway Woods
Callaway say that their new Elyte Fairways promote high launch, low spin and exceptional levels of speed as well as 57% less turf interaction compared to last year’s Paradym Ai Smoke.

There’s a new Tungsten Speed Wave on the 3-7 wood, which is a 35g weight which moves weight low and further forward in the head to promote faster ball speeds, and is also enable to enhance performance on strikes that are low on the face.

The turf interaction claims come via a new Step Sole, which helps to minimise skidding for smoother strikes, and it has been inspired by the success of the Apex UW to help golfers strike the ball out of the middle more consistently.

The fairways also feature the same Ai10x Face as in the drivers and irons, with ten times more control points than the previous Ai Smart Face. This combines with the C300 Face cup to help produce faster ball speeds, better dispersion and optimised launch across the face.
There are five different models in the range – Elyte, Elyte X, Elyte Triple Diamond, Elyte Max Fast and Elyte Ti.
The Elyte Fairway has progressive shaping and lofts from 15 all the way up to 27 degrees, providing consistent launch and a neutral ball flight for golfers seeking reliable performance, as well as adjustable hosels in the 3W and 3HL models.

The Elyte X has a slightly larger footprint at address to give golfers extra confidence down by the ball, as well as a shallower face for those wanting a high flight and more draw bias.

The Elyte Triple Diamond has a compact shape and deeper face, allowing golfers to shape shots more easily. There’s a forward weight which promotes a lower spin rate and more piercing ball flight.

The Elyte Max Fast is built for golfers who need lightweight, easy to swing fairways, and comes with a premium lightweight construction and components for golfers with slower swing speeds.

Finally, the Elyte Ti features a titanium body and face for extreme levels of speed and forgiveness, and Callaway say it is a blend between the Elyte and TD models, with the deeper face of the TD model combining with the footprint of the standard.
The Elyte Fairway Woods are available from 21th January (Elyte Ti available from 21st February) and are priced at an RRP of £349 for the Elyte, Elyte X and Elyte Max Fast, £359 for the Elyte Triple Diamond and £459 for the Elyte Ti.
Callaway Elyte Hybrids
The Elyte Hybrids have new levels of adjustability which Callaway says can provide up to 13 yards of shot shaping for new levels of versatility at the top end of the bag.

There’s a 13g tungsten weight and a 3g aluminium weight which can be swapped between the heel and the toe, to give golfers the option between a draw or neutral ball flight, as well as the OptiFit 4 hosel system to modify both loft and lie angle.
The new Ai10x Face delivers more control points than the Ai Smart Face, using more precise Ai to produce faster ball speeds, tighter dispersion and better launch across the face.

The standard Elyte model is best suited for golfers seeking a neutral flight in a mid-sized shape, and is said to pair well with both the Elyte and Elyte HL irons.

The Elyte X model is best suited to golfers looking for a bit of draw bias in an oversized profile. It features a taller face for more forgiveness, and blends perfectly with the Elyte X irons.

The Elyte Max Fast is best suited to golfers who want a lightweight hybrid that is easy to swing. A shallow face height and stretched back shape make it forgiving and easy to launch, complementing the Elyte Max Fast irons.

The Elyte Hybrids are available from 7th February and are priced at an RRP of £299.
