Shot Scope has announced the launch of its first-ever launch monitor, the LM1, as the brand looks to bring a more simple and affordable option to golfers wanting to get more from their practice sessions or even enjoy better practice at home.

The Scotland-based brand are best known for their GPS watches, rangefinders and performance tracking, but they have been expanding further over the last couple of years with the LM1 the next stage in this development. It all sounds pretty exciting, but potentially the best part of this announcement is the price – more on that later…
The Tech
Shot Scope have placed a big emphasis on simplicity when it comes to the new LM1. There’s no complicated setup or calibration process. You just place the unit around five feet behind the ball, select your club and start hitting. Data is displayed instantly on the built-in 3.5-inch colour screen, making it easy to use whether you’re at the range, in the garden hitting into a net, or even out on the course.

Despite the ‘budget’ price point, the LM1 covers the key numbers most golfers will actually care about. It tracks club speed, ball speed, smash factor, carry distance and total distance, along with a dedicated speed training mode for those looking to add a few extra mph.
Shot Scope says the LM1 has been put through six months of in-house testing, with performance lining up alongside more established systems such as Trackman and Toptracer across those five core metrics.

Another key part of the story is how the LM1 fits into Shot Scope’s existing lineup. Sessions can be synced to the app, allowing golfers to build up a lifetime history of their data with no subscription fees. It also means you can start to connect what you’re doing in practice with what happens on the course, all in one place.

In terms of design, the LM1 is compact and portable, weighing just 300g and coming with a carry case. It offers around five hours of battery life and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, with an IPX3 rating to handle the occasional bit of rain.
The most eye-catching detail with the new Shot Scope LM1 is the price. An RRP of just £199.99 makes it one of the best-value launch monitors on the market, and should appeal to plenty of golfers who want to get into this market without spending a fortune.
