Late last year we saw Odyssey introduce the S2S Tri-Hot range, combining the zero torque technology of Square 2 Square with their long-standing Tri-Hot multi-material construction.

However, one of the big criticisms of zero torque putters is that they don’t always look very attractive, especially at address. The CG position of the putter and the entry point of the shaft means that you can get some pretty obvious shaft lean at setup, something that lots of golfers don’t like.
Odyssey are seeking to address this with a new line of S2S Tri-Hot SB putters – the SB meaning ‘Single Bend’. They say that the new putters can redefine what zero torque putters look and feel like.
Here’s how it works:
Multi-Material Construction
Firstly, the Tri-Hot multi-material construction allows for the CG location to be pushed further forward in the head.

More than 140 grams of tungsten is used in the head, ensuring more than 80% of the total weight is under the topline and allowing the shaft to enter the head on the topline, getting rid of that pre-set shaft lean.
Heel-Ward Hosel
The difference with these putters compared to the original S2S Tri-Hot range is the addition of the Single Bend shaft.

This places the hosel towards the heel, which is a much more familiar appearance for most golfers. It gives a clearer view of the putter’s sightline, whilst still offering all of the benefits of zero torque.
Ai-Dual Insert
Designed with the help of artificial intelligence, this is a dual-layer urethane insert. It has a soft outer layer but a firmer inner layer, delivering consistent ball speed across the face as well as better roll up and down the face, along with a great feel.
F.R.D. Groove Design
This insert combines with the Forward Roll Design grooves, which are deeper and more aggressive than previous Odyssey groove designs.

A 19 degree slope help to improve forward roll no matter where you strike it on the face.
Pistol Plus Grip
Based on research into the most popular grips used on the professional tours, the new Pistol Plus is a mid-sized pistol grip, with crisp edges. This is designed to fit more comfortably in the hand, as well as giving better awareness of where the putter face is.
The new S2S Tri-Hot SB putters are available in four different models: Rossie, #7, Jailbird and a #7 Cruiser. The Cruiser is a longer 38″ putter, with a heavier head, heavier shaft and a longer 17″ grip for golfers who prefer that setup.

The putters feature a Black PVD Stroke Lab 120 shaft, which is heavier and stiffer than the previous SL 90 and works better for putters of this size.
They’re available at retail from 24th April, at an RRP of £499 (£529 for #7 Cruiser).
