When it comes to winter golf, most golfers will know about the importance of the correct clothing and layering strategy to stay warm and dry on the course. One aspect which may sometimes be overlooked are golf shoes. Step forward the new Ecco BIOM H5 High Top BOA.
Much like the standard BIOM H5 that I reviewed earlier this year, the shoe draws inspiration from the ‘rugged’ Scottish Highlands and the Nordic Fjords close to Ecco’s home in Denmark.
The high-top shoe offers better weather protection and comfort, performing even in the worst conditions.

The shoe uses Ecco’s performance leather and features a one-piece knit sock. It comes with a modern aesthetic, and a glove-like fit.
Waterproof protection comes via the Ecco-Tex membrane. This helps to keep your feet dry and comfortable even in the wettest weather. The BOA fit system offers easy adjustability to keep your foot stable and supported.
The BIOM Natural Motion technology follows the shape of the foot for a more natural movement. This promotes forward momentum and long-lasting comfort throughout the round.
On the outsole is the Ecco Terra Traction System (ETTS). This delivers grip and multi-directional stability. In addition, it’s also said to work well regardless of different terrains.
