Who? 27 year-old American Bryson DeChambeau

What? The US Open, his first major victory.

Where? West Course, Winged Foot Golf Club, Mamaroneck, NY.

How? Bryson has cut a controversial figure over the last few months after transforming his body and game to better suit all-out power hitting, but it proved to be the key to success at a brutal Winged Foot. The American won by SIX shots and was the only player to finish the week under par, as a final round of 67 helped him to leapfrog overnight leader Matt Wolff and take his first major title.

Following the victory, DeChambeau said:

“I think I'm definitely changing the way people think about the game. Now, whether you can do it, that's a whole different situation. There's a lot of people that are going to be hitting it far. Matthew was hitting it plenty far today. A couple of putts just didn't go in for him today and kept the momentum on my side.”
