You may remember Toulon Golf from their time under the Callaway and Odyssey umbrella, offering premium-quality putters alongside Odyssey’s standard range. The brand split from Callaway a couple of years ago to form Toulon Golf, but continue their aim of producing highly desirable milled putters. They’ve just become the latest company to introduce their take on the popular Zero Torque trend, and they claim they’ve found the ‘Formula’ to better putters.

The brand say that the new Toulon Formula collection is said to be more suitable for a wider range of golfers and putting styles compared to other zero torque models.
The team at Toulon have done some extensive research into the best possible setups for different golfers. Obviously, every player has a different stroke path, face rotation and shape preference.
The issue they found is that all of these golfers were being ‘pigeon-holed’ into the same toe-up options if they wanted a zero torque putter. This then means that golfers would have to made adjustments to their stroke to match this setup.

Toulon’s solution has been to produce a serious of zero to very low torque designs, which would better match the kind of rotational profiles that golfers already have. They’re still designed to stay square to path. This allows for a squarer face at impact, improving start line and encouraging more holed putts.
Toulon Formula CS Putter
Toulon say that this is best suited to those with a moderate amount of arc to the stroke. The putter has an MOI rating of over 6,000 and incredibly low torque, and will slightly arc during the stroke.

It’s designed with zero toe hang and has a centre-shaft. There’s three small lines on the head to help with alignment.
Toulon say that this is great for golfers who have tried other zero torque models and struggled with pulling putts.

There’s also the option of a ‘Heavy Spec’ model. This is built with a heavier head weights, and a longer, heavier 15-inch grip.
Toulon Formula 45 Putter
If you have a shallow arc to your stroke, Toulon say you’ll be best suited to Formula 45. It has very nearly zero torque, allowing for a small degree of face roation. The putter head with naturally arc slightly during the stroke.

As the name suggests, the putter is designed to be 45 degrees toe-up. The shaft is positioned just behind the centre of the head, with three alignment lines.
The putters all use a multi-material construction. This allowed Toulon to move the CG further forward, improving forgiveness.

It’s ideal for golfers who have very little rotation in their stroke, and helps to guard against pulled putts. Like the standard Formula, it’s also available in Heavy Spec.
Toulon Formula 90 Putter
The Formula 90 is designed for golfers who want a straight back, straight through stroke. It works best for golfers with very little face rotation – although it can stay square to any path.

It’s a toe up putter, with the most rearward shaft of the Formula Series putters.
A true zero torque design, it aims to help golfers eliminate face rotation in the stroke. This can simplifying the putting process for many golfers, and encourage more consistent face angles and start lines.
The multi-material construction generates high MOI and allows for a forward CG, making it extremely forgiving on mis-hits.

Like the rest of the range, the Formula 90 is available in Heavy Spec. This features heavier weights and a longer, heavier grip.
Toulon also say that they have worked hard to improve the aesthetics of these putters. They claim that zero torque putters often include a sacrifice when it comes to looks, but they’ve get a premium shape and design in the Formula series.
They also come with a Deep Diamond Mill face pattern. This encourages a better roll, whilst also improving sound and feel.

The Formula putters are available now at an RRP of £649, with Heavy Spec models available for £699.
