TaylorMade Relaunch R7 Quad As Mini Driver

Inspired by one of the most popular drivers in the brand’s history, the new TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini is the latest model in the ever-growing mini driver market.

These clubs have really gained in popularity across both the amateur game and on Tour in recent years. The idea behind a mini driver is that it can provide control and forgiveness to golfers who struggle with their driver, as well as giving another option for gapping purposes at the top end of the bag.

The R7 was first released in 2004, and went on to win more than 30 events worldwide, including the 2004 US Open.

It was the first driver to feature Moveable Weight Technology. This was really the catalyst for how driver heads have come to have so much adjustability these days.

The R7 Quad Mini follows suit with the same technology. This allows golfers to dial in their spin, distance, trajectory and shot shape by adjusting the CG placement.

The Quad Weighting System features two 13g and two 4g weights. There are ports at the back of the head, as well as on the toe and heel. Moving weight to the front of the head promotes a penetrating ball flight with lower spin to maximise distance.

On the other hand, moving the weight back raises forgiveness and is said to be easier to control and launch off the deck.

It uses the brand’s modern day Infinity Carbon Crown technology, as seen in the new Qi35 Drivers. This allows TaylorMade to save weight in the head, relocating it to other areas to be used more efficiently.

The R7 Quad Mini also uses Twist Face, helping to improve the consistency of performance on mis-hits.

The Speed Pocket increases face flex at impact to help produce more ball speed and launch, particularly when struck low on the face.

They TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver is available from 15th April at an RRP of £399. It comes with a Fujikura Speeder MD stock shaft and a Golf Pride Z-Grip.

There are two heads available: 11.5 degrees (RH/LH) and 13.5 degrees (RH only).
