Mini drivers have had a surge in popularity over the last few years, and Cobra are kicking off 2026 by introducing their own. The new King TEC-MD Mini Driver is designed to offer golfers a blend of distance, accuracy and versatility – making it suitable to use both off the tee and from the fairway.

We first spotted Rickie Fowler using a prototype Cobra mini driver around 12 months ago on Tour. Now there is a very similar version is available for amateurs to use too.
It features a 303cc head, 13.5 degrees of loft (as standard) and a fairway-wood length shaft. If you’re a fan of Cobra, you may notice that the design is very similar to the King TEC Hybrids that have been offered over the last few years. Those are aimed more towards the better player, whereas the mini driver should have a much wider range of appeal.
Key to this versatility is the combination of the shorter shaft and the smaller head. This makes it easier to swing, and more accurate than a traditional driver.
The Tech
The new King TEC-MD features a titanium body along with a lightweight, multi-layer carbon crown. This is designed to redistribute more weight to the sole, improving launch and forgiveness.
There’s a Pwrshell face insert complete with H.O.T Face technology. This is something that we have seen in Cobra woods including Darkspeed and DS-Adapt over the last few years.

This produces a higher CT (spring-like effect) around the centre of the face, encouraging better distance and ball speed even on off-centre strikes.
Two moveable weights at the front and back of the sole allow the CG to be shifted around to fine-tune ball flight and performance. Putting the heavier weight at the front lowers spin and increases ball speed. Having it at the back raises forgiveness.
Cobra have also been able to add their FutureFit33 hosel system to the mini driver too. The brand call this those most innovative metal fitting technology to date, with 33 different loft and lie settings.

These can be adjusted independently, allowing golfers to change the loft and lie by 2 degrees in every direction to better dial in launch, speed or flight.
“We’ve seen a significant number of Tour players put mini drivers in their bag in the last year with great success.
We think there are a lot of recreational players who can also benefit from the combination of distance and accuracy mini-drivers provide, especially with the addition of Cobra’s industry-leading technologies and fitting capabilities.”
Dan Ladd, President of Cobra Puma Golf.

The new Cobra King TEC-MD will be available at retail from 16th January, at an RRP of £379. It comes with a Mitsubishi Kai’li shaft as standard, but can fit into any 3-wood length shaft in custom.
