The Cleveland 588 CB iron was a very pleasant surprise when I picked it up. It has a mid-sized head that is a bit longer than previous Cleveland irons, but there is not much offset so this is ideal for better players.
The feel and forgiveness from the compact cavity back is excellent and unusually for this style of iron, the flight was quite penetrating. The Tour Zip grooves on the face are the same as on the 588 wedges and give good grip.
Right through the set the shape and performance is very good, but if you still want to play blades then there is the option of a combo set that blends the 588 MB blade iron from a seven-iron downwards. However we are not sure why you would need to do this as overall there was very little to fault with the 588 CB irons. Cleveland has consistently made good irons and this is one of the best they have done.
