Ben Hogan is one of the most iconic names in the game of golf, and the equipment brand that he helped to found way back in 1953 was revived last year thanks to new owners in Golf Brands Inc.

Ben Hogan PTx Tour Irons

The company are launching a new range of products for 2024, highlighted by the PTx Tour irons, which are said to provide a combination of distance, consistency, trajectory control, looks and feel. It uses four different forged constructions to create club-specific performance.

Designers paid special attention to the size and shape of each iron, which is said to deliver a seamless transition from club to club.

The PTx Tour long irons (4-5) use a four-piece construction to help golfers hit their longest irons higher and further, particularly on mishits. Both the body and the face are forged from 1025 carbon steel to deliver great feel and consistency.

The inside of the head is filled with foam to allow for more weight to be moved to the perimeter of the head as well as producing a soft, solid feel. Internal tungsten weights enhance forgiveness and move weight lower down in the head to increase the peak height and provide desired distance gapping.

The PTx 6 iron has a three-piece construction and is the transitional iron in the set, which bridges the gap between the long irons and the mid to short irons.

The mid irons (7-8) use a three-piece construction to help golfers create the lower, more consistent trajectories that are ideal for scoring. Between the 1025 forged carbon steel bodies and faces is a co-forged titanium insert, while adds forgiveness while moving weight higher up to control the flight.

The short irons (9-PW) are one-piece forged from 1025 carbon steel to deliver shot-making performance and control. Despite the blade-like look, the company says that golfers will be surprised by how forgiving these irons are and how easy they are to hit.

All of the irons in the set feature an enhanced V-Sole design. With a high-bounce leading edge and soft, lower-bounce trailing edge on the sole, the design is said to help the clubhead move cleanly through the turf from even the thickest rough.

They are built with 4° loft gapping from a 21.5° 4 iron to a 45.5° pitching wedge, and each iron can be customised by 2° stronger or weaker to optimise performance.

Both the lie angles and lengths are customisable, as are shafts and grips. They can be built in either 4-PW or 5-PW to best suit the rest of the golfer's existing setup.

Available now, the Ben Hogan PTx Tour irons are offered direct-to-consumer on the Ben Hogan Golf website at an RRP of £699.99 for a set.
