The Tech
There are three models in the new PowaKaddy FX range: FX1, FX3 and FX5. The FX5 is the entry-level trolley, designed to introduce golfers to electric trolleys as a budget option, without compromising on quality.
It features a simple speed controller, and an LED light to indicate whether the power is on or off. It’s as simple as that.

The trolley comes with PowaKaddy’s Mag-Lok attachment system. This is compatible with any of PowaKaddy’s recent bags and ensures that it fits securely on the trolley, without the need for a bottom strap.

One new feature is a USB-C charging port. This allows you to charge your smartphone or GPS device on the go.
There’s also a power, pause and resume function, meaning that you can set off at the same speed you stopped.
The trolley comes with a Plug’n’Play 30v battery, and the 1-Click Fold frame folds 20% smaller than previous iterations.

Other key features include:
- High performance low profile Powaframe chassis
- Height adjustable soft touch handle
- Anti-tamper dial control
- Scorecard and pencil holder
- 2 year warranty on the trolley
- 5 year warranty on lithium battery.
PowaKaddy FX1 Electric Trolley Review
Looks
The FX1 has the kind of clean, simple look you’d expect from PowaKaddy, and at first glance it’s hard not to be impressed by how tidy the overall package feels.

It has a sleek frame and minimalistic styling, for a no-nonsense appearance. I think PowaKaddy trolleys on the whole are among the best looking on the market and this continues that theme.
The build quality feels solid, and the trolley itself feels durable even if it is firmly within the ‘budget’ category. It’s also one of the more compact trolleys in the range, making it easy to manoeuvre on the course and lift in and out of the car boot.
Setup
One of the standout features of the FX1 is how quick and easy it is to set up. Weighing in at just 9.5kg, it’s much lighter than both the CT12 GPS (10.5kg) and RX12 GPS (14kg). This makes it much easier when lifting it in and out of the car or storing it away.

The folding mechanism is simple and intuitive, and I was able to set it up in just six seconds which was really impressive. If you’re someone who is looking for speed and ease of use with their trolley – this one certainly ticks that box.
The battery slots in neatly and connects without hassle, and the overall process is really straightforward. For golfers who want to spend more time swinging the club than figuring out their trolley, this is about as user-friendly as it gets.
Functionality
The FX1 really does hit the nail on the head for me. Like I said before, there aren’t any unnecessary frills with this trolley, and that’s true. But, in typical Powakaddy fashion, it still comes with plenty of useful features and benefits that make a difference out on the course.

The first thing worth mentioning is the whisper-quiet motor. I tested it properly during a round, and it really is super quiet, which is great.
You’ve also got a USB charging port, plus a scorecard and pencil holder – little touches you’d expect but still nice to have.

It feels sturdy on lots of different terrains, and it’s also really easy to move around too.
One new feature I enjoyed using is the pause, power, and resume function. Basically, whatever speed you set the trolley to before stopping, it remembers when you start again.
So, if you’ve been walking at speed six and you pause, it’ll go straight back to six when you set off again. It’s a clever idea, but it does take a bit of getting used to.
A couple of times on my first round I forgot, set off without thinking, and the trolley shot off faster than I expected!

That leads me to one of the few downsides. Because there’s no screen, you can’t actually see what speed the trolley is set to. You just have to judge it by feel. It’s not a massive issue, but it can catch you out, especially early on.
Personally, I think a small display showing the speed would be a great addition, just to make things a bit easier and avoid any surprises on the course. Currently this is offered in the FX3 and FX5, but I’d love to see it on the entry model too.
PowaKaddy FX1 Electric Trolley Verdict
The PowaKaddy FX1 is a brilliant choice for golfers seeking simplicity, reliability, and ease of use. It’s not packed with high-tech features, but it doesn’t need to be.

For those who just want a trolley that works, looks good, and is easy to operate, the FX1 ticks all the boxes. Its clean design, quick setup, and dependable performance make it one of the best entry-level electric trolleys on the market today.
Compared to the RX12 GPS and CT12 GPS, the FX1 doesn’t offer advanced navigation or slope-assist, but the big bonus is the simplicity. It’s lighter, easier to handle, and less intimidating for those new to powered trolleys or those who don’t want any fuss.

There are a couple of minor niggles, including the lack of speed indicator and the fact that the front wheel doesn’t fold in on itself. But on the whole, it’s a brilliant option.
Would I Use It?
If it was my money, this is the one I would buy all day long. It looks great, it’s sturdy, it’s lightweight and it’s so simple to use.
