PowaKaddy’s compact folding CT range is one of the most impressive options in the trolley market for me. In 2025, they’ve taken things a step further. The new PowaKaddy CT12 GPS Trolley is a world-first – as it’s the first trolley to feature a 5″ touchscreen.

I’ve tested CT trolleys before, including the CT8 GPS a couple of years ago. I loved how easy it was to use, and I thought it looked great too. Can the new CT12 GPS take things to the next level?

Who Is It Aimed At?

Any golfers who take their golf seriously and want to get access to hole information and yardages on the course. At nearly £1300 it’s definitely not cheap, but if you factor in the price of a GPS device, which is essentially included within the product, then it starts to make a bit more sense.

If you’re somebody who usually uses a GPS device, or doesn’t mind getting their phone out on the golf course, then this is the trolley for you.

This trolley is not for casual golfers who are only going to play every few weeks, unless you’ve got money to burn. If you’re on a budget, or someone who prefers to keep things simple, then the FX range might be a better option.

The Tech

The CT12 GPS is said to be PowaKaddy’s ‘flagship’ model in the range, and the brand have made the bold claim that it’s the most technologically advanced electric trolley they’ve ever made.

The key new technology is obviously the 5″ touchscreen. This now comes with Full Hole View – giving golfers the chance to plot their way down every hole.

There’s also a new 1.1GHZ processor, said to be nine times faster than previous generations. This is what is powering the new GPS, which offers more than 40,000 golf courses with no subscription needed.

You also get features like Auto Zoom, Drop Flag Technology and Advanced Green View. This gives you all of the information you need on every hole.

The trolley also features the new Mag-Lok technology. You’ll see this in all of PowaKaddy’s 2025 Bag Range. It allows the bag to clip onto the trolley easily, without the need for a lower strap.

PowaKaddy CT12 GPS Trolley Review

Looks

To me it makes total sense to have the screen in portrait mode. After using it, you kind of wonder why it was ever any other way.

You spend most of your time looking at your phone in portrait mode, and it makes it much easier to see the full shape of the hole too. The screen itself is really great quality, and this is an area where trolleys have really improved over the years too.

When I tested the older CT8 GPS model a few years ago I remember really liking the design of the trolley. This continues with the new CT12.

The black, grey and yellow finish looks great, and it feels like they’re getting more premium with each generation. This is backed-up by the new screen too, which is like having a mobile phone attached to your trolley.

Setup

Powakaddy’s CT range stands for Compact, and it definitely lived up to the billing.

The trolley is so easy to set up and fold away, and it’s really small too. If you don’t have a very big boot, this is the perfect trolley for you. It weighs just under 10kg without the battery included, so it’s moveable without being the lightest trolley I’ve ever tested.

One great feature of the CT trolleys is that the wheels can be inverted to save space, something that you don’t get with PowaKaddy’s FX or RX trolleys. I don’t know if I’d bother doing this every time, but it’s nice to know it’s a possibility if you are short on space in your car or garage.

The trolley itself goes from folded to ready to use in just two steps, and I got the hang of it after just a couple of tries.

One thing that has really improved in recent years in trolleys is the batteries. The Plug’n’Play connection makes it so much easier to take the battery in and out, with no annoying wires or connectors. It’s much smaller and lighter too, adding more practicality.

Functionality

One of the first things I thought when I saw the new trolley was whether the size and shape of the screen would be an issue. Initially I thought that it might get in the way, or even be in danger of getting cracked or damaged.

To counter this, the screen does fold down which is supposed to keep it out of the way, but I’d still be a little worried about knocking it when moving it around.

PowaKaddy have also made the top bracket a bit further away than in previous years, so that you’re less likely to clip the screen with your clubs as you put them in and out of the bag – even if you’re doing it in anger!

The touchscreen itself is a real winner – in the past these have been clunky and hard to use. But the new screen feels just like a smartphone and it’s so responsive.

Changing between the different menus, selecting different areas on the hole or green, and accessing all of the different features on the screen feels so easy. The interface is very intuitive too, meaning it’s suitable for golfers of all ages and experience levels.

Out on the course, the trolley is just a breeze to use. The motor is extremely quiet, the trolley feels easy to manoeuvre and it managed rough terrain and inclines without any issues at all.

One detail that I did like was the pause and resume function. This allows you to take off at the same speed that you stopped, saving you having to twist the dial up to speed every time.

It does make life easier, although it took a bit of getting used to for the first couple of times, especially if you were walking at a decent speed!

PowaKaddy CT12 GPS Trolley Verdict

I’ve tested three different trolleys from PowaKaddy’s new range – the FX1, CT12 GPS and RX12 GPS.

For me, the CT12 GPS was probably the best overall model. It combines really easy usability, with lots of great features, and it’s compact and practical too.

If it was my money I’d probably go with the standard FX1 as I like to keep things simple. But if I was recommending a trolley to another golfer, who didn’t mind spending a fair bit of cash, this is the one I’d recommend. It’s a great all-rounder.

Would I Use It?

Personally I like to keep things more simple when I play golf so I’d actually prefer the FX1. But if I wanted to give myself the extra information to plan my way around the golf course, the CT12 is a great option.
