TaylorMade Introduces BRNR Mini Driver

A modern take on a TaylorMade classic

TaylorMade are adding to their range of products in 2023 with the launch of the new BRNR Mini Driver, which is said to pay homage to the Ti Bubble 2 Driver which was used across the world in the mid-1990s.

The mini driver combines retro looks with modern technologies and performance, continuing the throwback theme that we have seen from TaylorMade’s Original One and 300 Mini Drivers in recent years.

The BRNR Mini is a 304cc driver with a reimagined K sole, helping the club to slide smoothly through the turf to promote a more consistent and forgiving strike. This is designed to provide golfers with ‘driver off the deck’ distance combined with the distance of higher lofted fairway woods.

There are two movable weights on the sole – 13g at the back and 1.5g at the front – which can be modified to create different ball flights and shapes.

The standard setting, with the 13g weight at the back, provides a blend of long distance, forgiveness and versatility. Moving this weight to the front can produce a low spin option with more distance and a penetrating ball flight, reducing spin by around 200rpm.

TaylorMade say that the club has been mainly designed with two different golfers in mind.

The first is a better player looking for a club which can they can use off the tee for more accuracy whilst still providing plenty of distance – which is why you may see some Tour players putting it into the bag.

The second is for golfers who struggle with the driver, giving them another option which may be more beneficial to a 3 wood due to the larger face, which adds forgiveness and more face area to improve contact.

Drawing inspiration from the Ti Bubble 2 driver that was used by Mark O’Meara to win the 1998 Masters, the driver features the same copper and black colour scheme as the original design, along with the same mid-90s TaylorMade logo.
