Srixon Z-Star Golf Balls

Srixon’s main aim this year was to provide a much more durable golf ball without compromising any performance. This ingenious cover is specifically designed to withstand all conditions faced on the golf course, ensuring that each model doesn’t wear as quickly.

Srixon claim that the biomass materials used have dramatically reduced their carbon emission’s during the manufacturing process. In comparison to their traditional petroleum based materials, they claim that this saving is equivalent to approximately 31 million plastic bottles (500ml).

On top of the coating, their balls have been coated with Spin Skin+ technology. The thin layer of urethane increases the cover’s friction, which in theory should enhance any approach shots or green side shots. In addition, the stronger urethane paint helps improve the resistance to any dirt or grime. This makes it a lot easier to control the golf ball when coming out of tougher or thicker lies.

Srixon’s newly formulated DG core 2.0 is the centre of the series. Starting with a soft centre which gradually firms up from the inside out, contributing towards more optimum spin and distance upon impact. Don’t worry though, Srixon promise that this will still include their signature feel.

FastLayer DG Core 2.0 has also been optimised for each model, providing even more distinction between each of the ball options.

The standard model has reduced compression at the centre of its soft core, which minimises driver spin for increased distance, softer feel, and enhanced greenside spin.

The Z-Star XV is slightly firmer through parts of the core and boosts ball speed for greater distance and improved iron spin.

Finally, the Z-Star Diamond also has a slightly firmer core but is more low spinning, helping golfers with high swing speeds to control their spin rate.

Price

The Z-Star golf balls this year promise to be a popular choice in a lot of people’s bags, but do come in at quite a hefty price of £48.99.

Srixon’s Z-Star and Z-Star XV are also available in Pure White and Tour Yellow.
