Mizuno Introduce Stunning Pro S-1 Irons

When it comes to forged irons for better players, there are very few brands in the world who do things quite as well as Mizuno. The Japanese brand have added another model to their Signature Series this week, with the new Mizuno Pro S-1 irons.

Aimed at better players, the Pro S-1 follows on from the Pro S-3 which we tested earlier in the year. They look to deliver precision and workability in a compact shape, along with the brand’s iconic feel.

Like lots of the other irons in Mizuno’s range, the Pro S-1 has undergone the Grain Flow forging process at their plant in Japan. They’re forged from a single piece of carbon steel, which helps to provide the soft feel.

Mizuno have also added a copper underlay, helping to dampen vibration patterns at the point of impact, to help produce a more satisfying sound and feel.

The S-1 sees the introduction of a new Channel Back Design. This helps to redistribute weight for more ‘vertical stability’, keeping the centre of gravity more consistent.

It works alongside Harmonic Impact Technology, adjusting the vibration frequencies of the club for better feedback.

A redesigned sole has been specifically shaped to help improve turf interaction. Compared to the previous Pro 241, the S-1 sole has a flatter camber, sharper leading edge and additional bounce. This design encourages more forgiveness by reducing the chance of the club digging into the ground.

As you’d expect from a pure players iron, the Pro S-1 has a compact profile, along with a square toe design, thin topline and straight edges – based on the feedback of elite golfers. The Soft White Satin finish offers a premium look, and reduces glare at address.

Release Date and Specs

Available from 4-PW in both right and left-handed, the Mizuno Pro-S1 irons come with a stock KBS Tour 120 shaft and Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip.

They’re priced at an RRP of £215 per club.
