Most people would be happy with a letter from the Queen on their 100th birthday. Not Wilson Golf however. To celebrate 100 years since Wilson was incorporated, the company has unveiled the new Wilson Staff FG Tour 100 irons.
What else would you expect from the company whose irons have won a record 61 Major titles?
Older players may remember Wilson's Dynapower irons, launched back in 1971. Well the FG Tour 100 irons have been specifically designed to emulate the Dynapower style.
Wilson's FG ranges are built for "Feel" players and the FG Tour 100 irons will offer Wilson's highest levels of forged feel. They are designed to offer a modern look on a classic design. From the vintage, triple-knurling engraving on the hosel to the timeless look of the badge on the back of the clubface, the FG Tour 100s have a real throwback look.
Like the original Dynapower irons, the 2014 design features a Fluid Feel bore-through insert that sits in the back of the clubhead, behind the milled face. Along with the forged construction, it gives the irons their soft, better-player feel.
The carbon steel head has been is covered with a nickel-chrome plating and high polish, mirror finish, giving the FG Tour 100s a modern, blade look.
“Our main focus this year lies in our new product launches, but there is just too much history to pass through our centenary year without celebrating it,” said Tim Clarke, General Manager of Wilson Golf. “Clubs like the FG Tour 100 blades revive a lot of memories, but also show the modern golfer why Wilson Staff has remained such a strong brand in golf for so long.”
