For anybody interested in putter design, Guerin Rife is a big name.
The pioneer for putter grooves with the original Rife line-up his Evnroll putter, with it's "Sweet Face" Technology, won many plaudits when it was introduced at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando in 2016.
This year he is adding to the collection with the release of new additions to the line, all featuring Evnrolls innovative and unique milling pattern that delivers uniform performance across the entire hitting surface.
The new models are a classic plumber-neck hosel design ER1.2 Tour Blade, a centre-shafted version of the award winning ER2 called the ER2cs; an upgraded ER3 WingBlade with a new refined shape and a centre-shafted version of the award-winning ER7 called the ER7cs.
Evnroll ER1.2 Tour Blade Putter
The ER1.2 Tour Blade features a smaller and thinner heel section with a channel in front of the hosel arm that has the effect of balancing the mass on either side of the centre sight line ensuring the sweet spot is directly in the centre of the putter.
The elbow below the hosel collar, which creates a down-left visual angle, has been replaced in the ER1.2 Tour Blade with a straight cut at the base, matching the square side of the hosel arm, giving a clean perpendicular line to the faces leading edge for better alignment.
Evnroll ER2cs and ER7cs Putters
The ER2cs putter has been re-engineered to incorporate the centre-shaft by thickening the cavity wall beind the hitting area to give sufficient width to accommodate a reverse thread hosel pin.
This has added 40g to the head weight of the putter, which Rife has then taken out by drilling four 10g holes right behind the face in the heel and toe to ensure the putter has the same feel as the original ER2 MidBlade with the same centre of mass and targeted swing weight.
It is a similar story with the new centre-shafted version of the award winning ER7 mallet putter with the additional weight of the thickened cavity wall being compensated by removing weight from under the forward heel and toe, thus ensuring the same feel and stability as the original ER7 FullMallet.
Evnroll ER3 WingBlade Putter
The new ER3 WingBlade has been designed to maintain the function of the original ER3 but with a broader aesthetic appeal of a distinctive outward heel and toe flare. Based on the shape of the popular ER2 it has greater weight concentration toward the back heel and toe for added stability.
The rear edge of the centre cavity section has a cut-away shape in a forward-pointing "V" that intersects with the sight line. This removes mass from the middle of the head, allowing for more weight on the extreme heel and toe for increased stability.
