All golf companies are looking for the hot new innovation or technology to help players hit further, straight and play better golf. Well, the folks at Callaway believe they've found the hot new range of clubs, the Callaway X Hot, and X Hot Pro, irons and woods.

The X Hot irons will take over from the RAZR family of irons, designed to provide distance gains for amateurs and professionals. The key change in the X Hot iron lies underneath the surface, Callaway's Deep Undercut Cavity Design, and powerful Speed Frame Face.

The cavity back design has allowed Callaway's award winning R&D team to place the weight in the X Hot irons to precisely position the centre of gravity, and move the most compliant part of the face, i.e. the sweet spot, lower. Callaway's research found that more and more golfers are striking their irons shot lower on the face, and designed the X Hot iron to produce faster ball speeds from this area.

You may have heard of the Speed Frame Face Technology. Callaway have incorporated the technology, previously used in their drivers, to make the face of the X Hot irons stiffer, creating a more efficient energy transfer to the ball. The stiffer, faster face design means more distance and speed, even on off-centre strikes.

The medallion located on the back of the club has also been modified. The dual material design features Callaway's Feel Management Technology, designed to fine tune the sound of the shot, promoting a crisper, dynamic feel at higher speeds.

We caught up with Callaway's Senior Vice President of R&D, Alan Hocknell to get his thoughts on the X Hot irons:

"The X Hot Irons have been meticulously engineered – both in terms of physical characteristics and club configuration – to increase ball speed and promote overall distance optimisation. In doing so I think we have raised the bar and created the standard in distance for the irons category. Golfers will very much enjoy the results"

To help further enjoy the Callaway X Hot irons, the company paired them with the True Temper Speed Step 85 lightweight shaft.
