I have been using the new Ping Moonlander Stand Bag for a few months, and I think it might be the best value for money bag on the market right now.

Designed for dedicated golfers who prefer walking and carrying, this bag is a perfect blend of practicality and lightweight ease of use.
Ping have a long reputation as one of the best bag manufacturers in the game, with the iconic Hoofer bags still used to this day. The Moonlander can be added to their collection of excellent options for 2025.
Who Is It Aimed At?
Anyone who wants to keep things simple with a small, lightweight carry bag that’s ideal for golfers who walk. It’s perfect for summer evenings, golf trips or for golfers who don’t carry a full set.
The RRP of £149 is excellent value for money, making it a great option for golfers who want a new bag but are on a budget.
The Tech
The new Moonlander bag weighs just 4.5lbs (2kg), which makes it ideal for golfers who walk and carry their bag.
It features a four-way top, providing space and easy organisation for all of your clubs.

In total there are six different pockets, providing space for all of the necessities. The front of the bag features a stretchable water-bottle pocket. This makes it easier to remove and replace on the go.
There’s also a dedicated ball pocket and valuables pouch, perfect for storing your phone, wallet and keys whilst playing.

The designers created the bag as an ideal step up for juniors wanting to use a full-size carry bag. A zippered pocket lets you add Prodi G risers, matching the length of the clubs and keeping them accessible.
A new design on the ‘back puck’ makes it easier to switch the bag to single and double straps.
The bag is available in three different colourways – Black, Navy/Green and a Mr Ping logo design.

Ping Moonlander Stand Bag Review
Looks
I tested the Moonlander in the green and navy camo colourway which I really liked. It looked smart and is pretty practical for year-round use as it’s quite dark too.

The Mr Ping design is great, but the white is going to be a bit harder to keep clean. The all-black options looks classy and sleek on the other hand.
The bag has a canvas feel which isn’t the most waterproof, but it looks premium. It did remind me of the Ping Hoofer Lite bag that I used for quite a while, but just a smaller footprint.
It’s lightweight, but still felt surprisingly sturdy despite the compact frame. The bag is pretty narrow and so it could’ve easily felt a bit flimsy, but I was impressed by the overall look and feel.

Subtle branding includes Ping logos on side pockets, and Ping Man logos on the zips which are a nice touch.
Functionality
First things first, the thing I like most about this bag is that it’s lightweight and small. I used to switch between a stand bag and a pencil bag because I loved the practicality.
The Moonlander felt almost like a pencil bag, with the added benefit of legs and a little more storage space.
Again, the overall build quality impressed me, with really comfortable shoulder straps and a sturdy leg/stand mechanism. These are two aspects that can often be the downfall of these smaller stand bags.
You get pretty decent storage space from the six pockets, which are nicely thought about in their positioning too.

There’s enough room for essential items, but you may have to remove some of the extras if you’re somebody who packs for all eventualities.
It still comes with an umbrella holder, valuables pocket and a velcro pad for a glove – the kind of features you’d expect from a normal stand bag.

Ideally I would’ve liked to see a lined valuables pocket, but it’s still nice to be able to keep these items separate from the rest of the bag.
The bag offers a great space for even a large water bottle. Placing it at the front of the bag is a great idea too, as it makes it easy to get it in and out even whilst walking down the fairway.

There’s just about enough room for 14 clubs via the 4-way divider, although might be a bit snug if you’ve got thick grips or an oversized putter grip. If you’re somebody who doesn’t carry a full allocation or likes to practice with 7 clubs, this bag is perfect.

Having used this bag for a few months now, the main benefit I have found is that it’s so easy to use. It’s small, making it easy to transport from house to car to course, and it’s lightweight and well-designed which really helps with practicality.
Ping Moonlander Stand Bag Verdict
Overall the Moonlander is a really great bag for lots of golfers. If you’re someone who likes to walk and carry, it could be a perfect option.

I think it will really come into it’s own during the summer months. If you’re not having to worry about carrying extra items like waterproofs and it’s less likely to rain, the bag will offer everything you need.
The value for money is fantastic too. The bag has an RRP of £149 and you can already get it for less online, making it one of the best value-for-money products on the market.
Of course there are a couple of downsides to such a small bag, such as lack of pocket space. If you use a buggy or trolley and like to be fully equipped every time you play, perhaps consider Ping’s Hoofer as a larger option.
Would I Use It?
I’ve already been using the bag for a few months and I can’t see it being replaced any time soon. It’s exactly what I’m looking for in a golf bag!
