Who? 36 year-old Italian Francesco Molinari.
What? The 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational, his third PGA Tour victory in his last 12 starts.
Where? Bay Hill, Orlando, Florida.
How? Just days after being announced as Callaway’s latest equipment staffer, Molinari fired a stunning final-round 64, including a 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th, to post 12 under par and finish an eventual two-shot winner over Matt Fitzpatrick.
Following the victory, Molinari said:
Obviously a lot of people were asking how are you going to follow-up last year and the way was just to work hard and keep improving what we thought, myself and my team, that we could improve, and obviously this shows that we did a good job during the winter.
