Golf Pride Adds Plus4 To Tour Velvet

Thicker lower portion for less pressure and more power

Grip aficionado Golf Pride has announced that it is adding to its already market-leading range of options with a new Tour Velvet Plus4 grip for woods and irons.

With 34 of the last 40 major winners using Golf Pride grips, it is fair to say that they are doing something right. This latest release tries to simulate the feeling of having four layers of tape underneath the bottom hand of the grip to create a larger lower hand profile which is said to be extremely popular on Tour. In fact, more than 90% of Tour players are said to build up their grip in an attempt to promote lighter grip pressure and generate a more fluid, powerful swing.

Golf Pride Product Manager Bruce Miller explained this latest development:

More than 80 per cent of Tour players trust their games to Golf Pride, so we understand the preferences of the best players in the world better than anyone. Hands down, the preferred grip that Tour players choose to play is the Tour Velvet.

We have taken the most popular grip on Tour over the last two decades and tweaked it slightly based off insights from professionals on how they are customising their performance equipment. Now all players can benefit from this design, while maintaining the trusted feel and performance they’re accustomed to in the Tour Velvet grip.

In addition to the larger lower-hand profile, the grip has been re-engineered with optimised, high-performance materials for durability, whilst retaining that familiar and distinctive Tour Velvet feel.

The grip maintains Golf Pride’s plus-sign texture, with an increased dimple-to-surface ration which makes it extra grippy and more durable.

They will be available from 3rd March in both Standard and Midsize options.
