For golf manufacturer’s the biggest day of the week isn’t Sunday, when the winner hoists the trophy overhead, but Thursday’s when the counts of which players are playing which equipment are made.
For Titleist, and its phenomenal Pro V1 and Pro V1x ball, Thursdays have now been winning days for 15 years.
Now into it’s 8th generation, the Pro V1 was first seen on Tour 15 years ago at the PGA Tour’s Invensys Classic, where 47 players put the original Pro V1 prototype in to play, including the winner Billy Andrade who recorded the first of many victories for the franchise.
In a nice quirk of fate it was Andrade who 15 years later, in each of which the ball has been the #1 in golf, used the latest version to claim victory last weekend at the Boeing Classic in the Champions Tour.
The most played ball by the world’s best players, through Club professionals and leading amateurs, the Pro V1 and Pro V1x continues to the most played golf ball at every level of the game.
2015 saw another grand slam with the Titleist balls claiming the number one slot at each of the four Major Championships, and the ball has claimed 106 victories, almost five times more than its nearest competitor.
This dominance is reflected across the amateur game too, with the ball dominating the fields of both the U.S. and British Amateur championships. At Carnoustie, 215 of the 288 players used either a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, with the nearest competitor being chosen by 44.
