Who? 36 year-old Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy.
What? The 2026 Masters, his sixth major victory.
Where? Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia.
How? Rory became just the fourth golfer in history to win The Masters back to back, joining Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods and adding another incredible milestone to his amazing career.
McIlroy had forged a six stroke lead at the halfway mark, thanks to a stunning round of 65 on Friday, but faltered on Saturday as others made up ground around him, finishing tied for the lead with Cameron Young.
After a double bogey on the 4th hole, McIlroy rallied around the turn with birdies on 7, 8, 12 and 13 to reclaim his lead from Justin Rose. From there his biggest challenger ended up being Scottie Scheffler, who shot a final round of 68 to set the clubhouse target at 11 under. McIlroy held a two-shot lead heading to 18, and despite losing his tee shot well right, was able to scramble for bogey to complete back-to-back victories.
