Cleveland Announce New RTZ Wedge

Cleveland has been a popular brand over the years, especially when it comes to wedge design. Cleveland’s engineers have gone to great lengths to create a wedge that delivers in every aspect around the greens. Lets dive into what makes this year’s Cleveland RTZ Wedges so unique.

The standout feature of the RTZ Wedges is Cleveland’s new Z-Alloy steel. This material has a lower density than what’s commonly used in wedges, which allows for a more flexible design. For golfers, this translates to a better feel, smoother performance, and greater consistency around the greens.

“When we first started working with Z-Alloy, we quickly realised that it was going to give us more freedom in designing the wedge. The results show up in every area that matters. The feel is softer, the look is cleaner, and the performance is better.”

Cleveland RTZ Wedge

The Z-Alloy steel makes the RTZ Wedges 10% softer than Cleveland’s previous RTX 6 ZipCore Wedges. This means you get more feedback on each shot, with a smooth feel that makes short game shots feel more controlled. Plus, the new material resists rust, helping the wedges keep their performance and good looks longer than traditional raw wedges.

Cleveland has also made adjustments to the weight of the RTZ Wedges. Six extra grams of weight have been shifted to more optimal areas of the wedge head, making it more forgiving. This change works alongside Cleveland’s ZipCore technology, shifting the centre of gravity (CG) closer to the centre of the clubhead. The result is more consistent performance on every shot.

The brand claims their own testing showed that the RTZ Wedges hold up better over time. Cleveland’s R&D team found that the grooves on the raw RTZ wedges retain up to 15% more spin than their previous models, even after repeated use. So golfers can expect the same tour-level spin and performance, but with more consistency over the long term.

Versatility to Suit Every Player

Cleveland know that not all golfers play the same way, which is why the RTZ Wedges come with several grind options. The standout new option is the Adapt grind, which has a unique face shape. This grind works particularly well for players who like to open the face on their shots.

It’s designed for the Sand and Lob Wedges, with full-face grooves and extra bounce on the leading edge, making it ideal for more creative greenside shots.

Along with the Adapt grind, Cleveland offers three other grind choices: Low, Mid, and Full. These grinds are designed to perform well in different conditions, whether you’re playing on firm, soft, or wet turf. The wedges have been carefully milled to ensure the leading edge provides the best turf interaction possible, while the grind options let golfers tailor their short game to their style.

Pricing and Availability

The RTZ Wedges are available in two finishes: Tour Satin and Black Satin, aswell as a Tour Rack (RAW) finish.

Both the RTZ Tour Satin & RTZ Black Satin come in at an RRP of £149.00.

The RAW finish RTZ Tour Rack is slightly more at an RRP of £159.00.
