The TaylorMade R7 driver is and adjustable weighted driver that comes in 3 versions the 425, 460 and TP.

As the name suggests the 425 driver has a 425cc head with a compact look to it at address and this gives a good sound and feel at impact. The weights in the back of the head are movable, but are closer together and lower down than in the R5 Dual TP, TaylorMade's other driver with 2 moveable weights.

Playing around with the weights does give the desired flight, but the head seemed a little heavier than other drivers in the market, which we think is a general TaylorMade thing.

The 460 has the largest permitted head of the TaylorMade range for those who prefer there driver to have a bigger footprint at address.

The design of the head and sole is excellent and the sole in particular gives it a very aggessive look. For us the standard shaft was a bit disappointing, so the TP version with it's better quality shaft is the one to go for if your budget can stretch that far.

Otherwise this is a very competent driver and worth a test.

The TaylorMade r7 425 is the best driver I have ever owned. I am typically a bad slice, but this one straightens me right out. I am a long hitter, but the slice kills the length. With just a quick adjustment of the weights, you're slice is not rocking down the middle of the fairway. I strongly suggest you test all the weight settings at the driving range for a bit, just to get the feel down for each. You don't want to set the club too weighted if you don't need it. I found just a slight adjustment made all the difference in the world. This club is long too. I have had the pleasure of hitting the Nike SasQuatch Sumo2 (square head), Cleveland HiBore, and the Callaway FT-5 this past season, and this smaller TaylorMade r7 425 just makes the ball cut through the air much cleaner, faster, and farther. I have the stock stiff shaft and it's at 9.5 degrees loft. This club truly makes teeing off fun again. Best club in my bag, bar none.

The TaylorMade R7 425 is probably the best TaylorMade driver I've tried. I liked the looks, the compact head and the results with the ball which is probably the most important. It gave me a good penetrating flight and despite the smaller head gives a whole lot of confidence through impact.
