TaylorMade has also announced that it will be stepping into the 'top of the range' iron market this year, with the brand themselves claiming that the Ti version of the P790 iron is the 'most premium iron' it has ever created.
This follows on from the news earlier this year that Titleist's CNCPT iron range encompasses all of the best technology that the brand can muster into one package, including a more personal and comprehensive fitting service to really ensure that you get the best end product for your game.
The P790 Ti irons are players-iron inspired in shape yet still fall into the game improvement category. With the price tag expected to be around £2,500, they are for those golfers who are prepared to pay for maximum performance.
The irons get their name due to the titanium construction, with a 9-1-1 Ti body and 6-4 Ti machined face forming a lightweight, hollow bodied iron which provides superior distance and forgiveness levels.
Tungsten weighting has been added into the back bar of each iron head, up to 119 grams, which produces a high launching, low spinning ball flight for added distance.
There's an ultra light urethane SpeedFoam which is injected inside the hollow head and gives both enhanced feel and ball speed off the face.
The new Thru-Slot Speed Pocket expands the area of the face that flexes at impact, thereby increasing the sweet spot and generating faster ball speeds in the process. There is also an additional Speed Pocket in the 8-iron which works to provide more consistent yardage gapping throughout the set.
Compared to the original P790 iron, the Ti has a 2mm longer blade length, 2mm taller face and half a millimetre more offset, with a slightly wider sole for extra forgiveness.
Available from 8th November, the P790 Ti irons are available in 4-PW with an additional Gap Wedge, and come equipped with Nippon's 950GH NEO steel shafts and Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grips.
