TaylorMade has announced the release of the Rory Junior Golf Sets, inspired by and created alongside leading PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy, and designed to give younger golfers the best possible tools to improve their game.
Using technologies seen elsewhere in full size TaylorMade clubs, the two sets have been designed with a specific aim to deliver the optimal lengths, lofts and flexes to promote proper swing mechanics for budding golfers. This move should help to remove the common issue in young golfers having learnt to play with clubs which do not suit them.
Rory explains his decision to partner with TaylorMade for this new set development:
Growing up, golf was an extremely important part of my life. It allowed me to stay active, enjoy the outdoors and have fun within a competitive sport. I partnered with TaylorMade to design the Rory Junior Set to give kids an easy introduction to golf so they can have the same opportunity I had to fall in love with the sport.
TaylorMade Rory Junior Set Driver
The Rory driver features a 16 degree, 400 cc titanium head which aims to give junior players confidence when standing on the tee, by being easy to launch high into the air and achieve a proper ball flight.
TaylorMade Rory Junior Set Fairway and Rescue
The fairway and rescue were created to try and bridge the gap between hitting a driver and hitting irons, resulting in forgiving clubs that are easy to hit from a number of different lies and stances. As Rory explains:
With a fairway wood or rescue, kids need clubs that are versatile and allow them to hit a variety of shots no matter where they are. These clubs are built for easy launch and extra forgiveness whether hitting from the tee, fairway or the rough.
TaylorMade Rory Junior Set Irons
Both sets of irons available are made with 17-4 stainless steel and there are special loft configurations for each set to help golfers launch the ball high and straight. The 4+ set features 2 degrees more loft on the iron than the 8+ to encourage better launch for younger golfers.
TaylorMade Rory Junior Set Putter and Wedge
As many golf instructors attest, chipping and putting is where golfers should start. So TaylorMade has placed on emphasis on high-quality short game equipment as well as the longer clubs. A centre-shafted mid-mallet putter should provide higher stability levels with easy alignment for consistent performance, whilst the 54 or 56 degree sand wedge in both sets will make short game play easier and more fun to learn and develop.
The two sets, 4+ and 8+, are available from December 7th for boys and girls, and include graphite shafts that are flexed specifically to suit junior swing speeds. Both sets also include a St Bernard Driver headcover to match that found in Rory’s actual bag.
The boys and girls 8+ set, designed for those 52-60” in height, include 7 clubs and a bag at an RRP of £399, whilst the 4+ set is for those who are 42-52” in height and comes with an RRP of £299.
