We all want to hit the ball further. That is part of golf. But how we attempt to produce that extra distance can vary dramatically. In this video, Justin Rose explains what he does when he's trying to reach a par-5 in two and get an extra 10 to 15 yards off the tee.

Wide Base

When preparing to add more speed and power to a swing, you want to ensure you have a base that will allow for that. Justin recommends taking a slightly wider stance, perhaps a show width to allow a stable platform for a long drive.

Tilt And Lean Back

To create the right set-up to launch the ball high and far, Justin likes to feel his weight slightly more in his back side (right side for right-handers) and also tilt his spine angle slightly the same way. This will help the club hit up on the ball and create the best launch for distance.

Distance = Speed

The last thing to consider is speed and acceleration. The more clubhead speed you can drive into the ball, the longer the ball will travel. Take a normal backswing, but concentrate on getting your hands and arms to, and through, the ball as quickly as possible.
