The challenge of producing a driver that goes far and straight has baffled companies and golfers for decades. Cobra believe they have found that formula and have produced the new Baffler XL Driver with one of the largest faces in golf.
Cobra, whose company motto outlines their mission to "make golf easier", feel the Baffler XL Driver will do exactly that. In celebration of the Baffler brand's 40th birthday, Cobra say the latest version makes it "easy to drive it far, easy to drive it straight and, most importantly, easy to enjoy the game."
“The Baffler XL Driver is an easy to hit driver packed with technology to hit it far and straight.” said Tom Preece, Cobra Golf's VP of Research & Development. “We increased the effective face area, lowered the CG and designed our largest driver face ever to deliver an easy to hit driver,”
The Baffler XL Driver features a 5000 sq mm face that is 17% larger than the Cobra AMP Cell Offset Driver. By increasing the size of the face, Cobra have increased the effective face area by 21%.
By making the face larger, and taller, Cobra have been able to move more of the face above the centre of gravity, positioned low to improve spin, produce a more consistent launch and enhance the Baffler XL's trampoline effect.
The Baffler XL is designed for aspiring golfers and golfers looking for more distance and help off the tee. One common problem with this segment of golfers is their tendency to slice the ball. Regardless of what causes this, Cobra believe the Baffler XL can help with this issue. The high MOI sole design and noticeable offset will help both in correcting slices and improving shots hit off-centre.
Featuring a new "Legion Blue" colour scheme with a subtle racing-stripe graphic on the crown, the Baffler XL Driver headlines an entire Baffler XL range including fairway woods, hybrids and combo iron set.
The Baffler XL is also available in a women's version that switches the blue for a more apt purple colour scheme.
