Earlier this year, Callaway released the ERC Soft golf ball which came complete with their new Triple Track Technology. This consists of three vertical lines – two blue outer lines and a thicker red inner – which are said to provide the best possible alignment pattern for golfers whilst putting, and utilise the same technology as aircraft landing strips.
Callaway ambassador Phil Mickelson liked the idea, and so he asked Callaway to add the lines to his Chrome Soft X ball for the 2019 season. It worked. In his first round with the ball in play he shot 60, en route to a T2 finish at the Desert Classic. Three weeks later and he was victorious at the AT&T Pro-Am event at Pebble Beach.
Fast forward to April, and the Chrome Soft X with Triple Track Technology is now available for us mere mortals too. It comes with six main performance highlights:
Advanced alignment from Triple Track Technology
The Triple Track lines are said to provide better alignment and accuracy, as they use Vernier Hyper Acuity technology to provide the best pattern for visual alignment which outperforms the standard single line alignment. This should help you with both aim and start direction on putts for better results.
Fast ball speeds and low spin off the driver
The Chrome Soft has a Dual Soft Fast Core, which is made with the ultra-strong Graphene, and features a larger inner core, all of which combines to maximise compression whilst keeping driver spin down, to promote a higher launch and longer distance.
Distance and control through the bag
The dual-core construction helps to promote greater distance from longer clubs, whilst maintaining control in the mid-irons down to the wedges, for all-around performance.
Pinpoint greenside control
The Chrome Soft has a Tour Urethane cover which is both thin and soft to provide excellent feedback and feel, whilst generating plenty of spin for precision and control around the greens.
Ultra-soft feel
The Urethane cover, along with SubMantle technology, combines with a low compression core to give responsive feel despite being a ball better suited for higher swing speeds.
Forgiveness
The Chrome Soft compresses more on off-centre hits, to keep ball speeds up across the face and increase both forgiveness and consistency. You don't have to flush it out of the middle every time!
The Chrome Soft X is available now across Europe at £39.99 per dozen, so if you want the performance of a premium ball with added alignment for better, more consistent results on the greens, with the new Chrome Soft X you could get your game back on the right track.
