There is no denying that, over the last decade or so, golf shoes have become more casual. Gone are the days where stiff leather and metal spikes are your only option, with many golfers now preferring the lightweight feel and styling of spikeless or hybrid models which are much more 'fashion-conscious'.
Essentially, golfers are seeking the look and comfort of their usual trainers, but with a little more added support that's going to be required for the extra strain put through the body during the golf swing.
adidas Golf has been one of the most popular brands in golf for providing shoes just like this, and their latest limited edition Superstar shoe appears to be continuing that theme whilst celebrating the history of a shoe design that first turned heads when it appeared on basketball courts 50 years ago.
The special golf edition of the Superstar features a waterproof leather upper along with trademark design additions such as the rubber shell toe, distinctive 3-Stripes in the midfoot, and Superstar name in gold foil lettering.
adidas has also added six cleats and secondary lugs to the outsole, to give you extra traction and stability so that you can swing with confidence out on the course even if the conditions aren't always perfect.
"The Superstar is a timeless piece of footwear that's recognised and worn by people all over the world. It's always stood for those that are eager to push boundaries as well as stand out from the crowd, and we wanted to bring that style and mentality to the course."
- Masun Denison, global footwear director at adidas Golf.
The adidas Golf Superstar shoe will be available from adidas on 16th August, and priced at £84.95.
