Who? 25 year-old South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
What? The 2019 Andalucia Masters, his first European Tour victory.
Where? Real Club Valderrama, Sotogrande, Spain.
How? At one of the European Tour's toughest venues, the young South African was a step-ahead of the rest of the field in recording a six-stroke victory. He took a five shot lead into the final round and started with two birdies, before making bogey at four of the next five holes. Bezuidenhout was however able to steady the ship and in the end coasted to victory, with Adri Arnaus, Jon Rahm and three others all tied for second.
Following the victory, Bezuidenhout said:
I'm proud of myself hanging in there today. I was nervous. It's a tough golf course, anything can happen, especially those last three holes playing into the wind. I'm really pleased with the way I played and to finish it off is unbelievable.
