If you've been in the market for a new putter over the last decade then the chances are, you've probably considered a TaylorMade Spider at some point.
Their cutting edge design has been adopted by the likes of Dustin Johnson, Jason Day and Rory McIlroy to great success over the years and it has become one of the best selling models in the golfing world.
The new Spider GT range sees four new models added to the Spider franchise, which promise a 'new standard of performance and contemporary construction'.
"Innovation has long been the bloodline of the Spider franchise. From its optimised stability frame to its countless victories on worldwide tours, every Spider putter is designed to deliver pure performance."
"With Spider GT, we have created our most angular and most stable Spider ever using a new modern wing construction similar to other high stability Spider putters of the past. With the removal of weight from the centre of Spider GT, we have unlocked higher MOI and more stability from every angle."
Bill Price, Senior Director of Product Creation, TaylorMade Putters & Wedge.
Spider GT Putter
The striking Spider GT features a lightweight 145g top plate made from a 6061 aluminium, which is there to eliminate excess weight in the middle of the putter head and features a short sightline for alignment.
Combined with the ultralight top plate, the all-new open frame multi-material design features two 90g steel side weights which push 82% of the total weight of the putter to the perimeter. This helps to create excellent stability on off-centre strikes.
The Spider GT top plate is crafted from a lightweight aluminium to provide both a premium look and increased durability compared to a paint or PVD finishes.
The putter has four anodised finishes - silver, black, red and white for the women's model, which also features a three-dot sightline for improved alignment.
The putter's contemporary design has a Pure Roll2 co-moulded insert to improve forward roll and ball speed consistency right across the face. This is a firmer insert made from black TPU urethane with silver aluminium beams at a 45° angle designed to improve topspin across the face.
Available at retail from 4th March, the Spider GT is priced at an RRP of £329 and is available in 33", 34" and 35" lengths. Hosel options include single bend, centre shaft and short slant.
Spider GT Notchback Putter
The Notchbank is a blend of traditional design with contemporary construction, creating a shape which is recognisable yet enhanced with new technologies. The CG is positioned furthest towards the face with the Notchback putters, to make face rotation as easy as possible.
A lightweight 6061 aluminium body combined with strategically placed 86g dual-tungsten weights on the heel and toe, the Notchback has plenty of stability, forgiveness and distance control.
TaylorMade say that it produces the highest MOI ever created by a mid-size mallet Spider.
The aluminium head is extruded and then machined, creating a section of material behind the face insert which inspires more confidence in the strike along with a great sound.
Both Spider GT Notchback and the Rollback feature a tri-sole design which allows golfers to set the putter square on the ground, without changing the face angle.
Available at retail from 4th March, the Spider GT Notchback is priced at £279 and is available in 33", 34" and 35" lengths, and is offered in a Silver colourway. Hosel options include single bend and short slant.
Spider GT Rollback Putter
The Spider GT Rollback is a classic half-moon design enhanced by a heavy tungsten rollbar, for added perimeter weighting and increased stability.
The Rollback creates confidence at address with a raised, curved centre section that's the same width as a golf ball. This makes it easy to centre the ball in the address position, and three contrasting black sightlines provide clear alignment with the hole.
The Rollback top design has a lighter anterior with a 232g cap, crafted from 6061 aluminium combined with an 80g tungsten stability bar which wraps around the back and side of the putter, to add forgiveness and stability.
Available from 4th March, the Spider GT Rollback is priced at £279 and available in 33", 34" and 35" lengths. It is offered in Silver/Black and all Silver colourways, and hosel options include single bend and short slant.
Spider GT Splitback Putter
The Splitback features a 304-stainless steel construction with geometric shaping and urethane foam which is injected inside the putter head.
The split mass 'winged' design allowed TaylorMade's designers to redistribute mass to the perimeter of the putter head, in order to maximise MOI and stability.
Due to the high density of the steel, the wing sections of the design have to be partially pocketed out in order to remove excess weight.
The area within the wings are filled with foam which is similar to the SpeedFoam in P770 and P790 irons, and this helps to fill the void and damp vibrations to produce a better sound and feel.
The Splitback incorporates the same True Path ball alignment and stroke visualisation aid as seen in the Spider X putter. This True Path is highly visible at address, and seamlessly integrated into the putter head.
Available from 4th March, the Spider GT Splitback has an RRP of £279 and is available in 33", 34" and 35" lengths. It is offered in a Black colourway with single bend or short slant hosels.
