Cobra has announced the release of their new line of forged players irons in a progressive combination set featuring both cavity and muscle back designs, delivering tour-standard looks and playability. Designed alongside leading PGA Tour star and Cobra staffer Rickie Fowler, the Cobra KING Forged CB/MB are intended to imitate Fowler’s existing irons so that golfers can step into his shoes and use a sleek players iron.
Fowler explains the trust that he has developed with his King Forged irons:
These high-performance Cobra irons consistently deliver the workability and shot-shaping control that I need to be competitive on course. I’ve been playing them for a few years, and know better players are going to appreciate the sleek look and soft feel, along with the ability to work the ball without sacrificing forgiveness.
The Cobra King Forged Irons set moves from a more forgiving cavity-back (CB) shape in the 4-6 irons, to a traditional players muscle-back (MB) shape in the 7-PW, thereby delivering the perfect blend of superior feel whilst providing more playability than a full MB set such as the one used by Fowler.
The CB irons now feature a new muscle cavity in the back of the head, which can help with both flight control and shot shaping whilst providing added forgiveness on off-centre strikes. The traditional MB irons are designed for precision and accuracy so that golfers can go pin-hunting with confidence.
In order to create the looks and feel desired by the world’s best players, the King Forged CB/MB irons undergo a five-step forging process, which also delivers a number of key features for all golfers.
The classical blade shape head gives golfers a more compact look at address, resulting from feedback from better players, and allows for ultimate precision and workability to provide more scoring chances.
CNC milling, as seen in last year’s F8 Driver, ensures the most precise face and groove structure possible to maximise spin and trajectory. This is further achieved by equipping the irons with their wedge grooves throughout the set.
The club head weighting has been reconfigured to match Fowler’s irons on Tour, with two tungsten inserts strategically positioned on the toe and in the centre of the club head for added forgiveness, feel and ball flight control.
Cobra’s most durable, visually appealing black satin finish is designed to diffuse sunlight, helping to maintain a sleek look for a longer period of time, whilst offering extreme resistance to wear for longer lasting and better-looking irons.
The Cobra Connect system, powered by Arccos, comes as standard with Forged CB/MB irons and consists of GPS enabled grips that work alongside the Arccos Caddie app, giving users the ability to track their stats and improve their game.
The King Forged CB/MB irons are the first ever Cobra irons to feature Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cobra Connect grips, and come standard with regular or stiff KBS S-Taper (black PVD) shafts. The stock set make-up is 4-PW (with 4-6 iron in the CB model and 7-PW in the MB model), and there are optional 2-iron, 3-iron and Gap Wedge complements.
Available in both left and right-handed variations, the Cobra Forged CB/MB are available from early November at an RRP of £849.
