Callaway has introduced a new addition to the impressive Steelhead XR family of irons with the launch of the Steelhead XR Pro irons.
Packed with the same game improvement technology as the original Steelhead XR irons the Steelhead XR Pro are aimed at players looking for a better player performance and look.
The irons have a more compact head shape and a thinner top line as well as a narrower sole width. They also sport a sleek, non-glare black PVD finish that makes them stand out from the original irons.
The technology packed into the Steelhead XR Pro is still all about speed and distance. The 360 Face Cup Technology increases ball speed with greater efficiency on both centre strikes and mishits meaning you get longer and more consistent distance on every swing.
As we illustrated in our Steelhead XR review the irons have a 'Snubber' that is a piece of steel infused polyurethane between the body and the face, that absorbs unwanted vibrations at impact for a better feel. The steel also adds weight to lower the CG for faster ball speed and a consistent launch.
The CG is positioned strategically in each iron to promote consistent launch and long carry in the long irons, great workability and control in the middle irons, and lower and high spinning shots in the short irons.
A Hollow Bore-Thru hosel design saves significant weight that’s repositioned in strategic places in the head to create more forgiveness and workability.
