Callaway's better-player Apex range has been in a staple in their lineup for a number of years now, with numerous generations of the irons used by Tour players and low-handicap amateurs alike.
The lineup has received another update ahead of the 2024 season, using insight from the brand's own tour players to produce products that are of the highest standard.
Let's take a closer look at each model here...
Callaway Apex Pro 24 Irons
Callaway are calling this the "ultimate players performance iron" which is held to the highest standard with real attention to detail, featuring insight from the best players in the game to enhance each detail of the Apex Pro iron.
For the first time in an Apex iron there is a hollow body construction which pairs a forged face with a forged carbon steel body for a premium, ultra-soft feel.
Urethane microspheres, which have been used by Callaway for a few years now, work to dampen sound and improve feel while still allowing the face to flex for higher ball speeds right across the face.
The irons feature a progressive face design which provide powerful long irons and more precise short irons. The long irons have a forged 455 face cup to enhance distance and forgiveness, while the short irons have a forged 1025 face plate to bring extra control with the scoring clubs.
There is also a new Dynamic Sole design with a pre-worn leading edge to get through the turf more efficiently, with trailing edge relief helping with a clean exit.
The Apex Pro irons are designed to be combined with any other model in the Pro Series range to meet any player's specific needs. They all feature the same MIM back weight to give fitters more control to dial in the swing weight.
Available from 8th September, the Apex Pro Irons are priced at £217 per iron and offered from 3-AW.
Callaway Apex CB 24 Irons
The 'ultimate tour iron' is designed for tour pros and elite ball-strikers, forged in a 5-step process from 1025 carbon steel for the soft feel that elite players are looking for.
The body and face are forged as one piece, with MIM weights placed in the toe for a balanced design which allows for workability and control.
A progressive CG as you move through the set is designed to improve trajectory control. The long irons have a lower CG which promotes towering shots to land soft into the greens, while the short irons use a higher CG for a lower ball flight, generating more spin for extra control.
Like the Apex Pro irons there is a Dynamic Sole design with pre-worn leading edge for better turf interaction, maintaining speed through the ground and promoting more consistent contact.
The Apex CB combines a classic tour shape with modern features, with a thinner topline and longer blade lengths than the previous model that also blends with the other models in the series.
Available from 8th September, the Apex CB Irons are priced at £217 per iron and offered from 3-AW.
Callaway Apex MB 24 Irons
As you may expect from a pure blade iron, the Apex MB has been developed for the best players in the game who are looking for a 'high level of performance in a modern Tour blade'.
The body and face of the Apex MB are forged as one piece in a forging process from 1025 carbon steel, for the purest possible feel.
The irons also benefit from the progressive CG design, with the long irons featuring a lower CG that promotes higher shots that land soft into greens. The short irons have a higher CG for a lower flight with more spin and added control.
There is a dual chamfer on the leading edge to cut through the turf more efficiently. A trailing edge chamfer provides relief from the turf after contact, to improve the feel. The Dynamic Sole design keeps speed up through the turf, for consistent contact on every shot.
Like the rest of the range the Apex MB is available from 8th September and priced at £217 per iron, from 3-AW.
Callaway Apex UT 24 Iron.
Rounding out the new Apex range is the Apex UT, designed to be a powerful and versatile option off the tee for better players.
The Forged 455 face cup is built to provide distance, for a powerful and workable option off the tee. Like with the rest of the irons there is a Dynamic Sole design with a pre-worn leading edge to cut through the turf more efficiently.
The Apex Utility is a more compact shape than the previous model, with a slightly shallower face to promote a higher launch.
The Apex UT is priced at £259 per iron and available in 18, 20 and 23 degrees.
