Who? 31 year-old American Tony Finau.
What? The Northern Trust 2021, his second PGA Tour victory.
Where? Liberty National, New Jersey.
How? The final round was pushed back to Monday after Hurricane Henri deposited nine inches of rain onto the golf course on Friday, and in the early stages it looked like being a battle between World Number One Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith for the title. Finau surged his way up the leaderboard however, with a back nine of 30 that included seven one-putts, most notably for a long birdie on the par 3 14th, as well as a crucial par save on the 18th. Rahm had reached four under par through 13 holes but struggled in the closing stages and could only settle for third. Cameron Smith birdied the 17th to tie level with Finau, taking the final round to a playoff, but the Australian hit his tee shot out of bounds to the right on the first extra hole, giving Finau a long-awaited victory.
