Who? 36 year-old Australian Marc Leishman
What? The 2020 Farmers Insurance Open, his fifth PGA Tour victory.
Where? Torrey Pines Golf Course, La Jolla, San Diego, California
How? Leishman fired a fantastic 7-under par 65 at the difficult Torrey Pines South Course to storm to victory over Jon Rahm, who had held the overnight lead but started poorly and could only finish in second. Whilst he drove the ball poorly all day Sunday, the putter saved him numerous times and a final birdie on the par-5 18th hole proved to be enough to take victory on a day that was overshadowed by the news of the death of ex-NBA legend Kobe Bryant.
Following the victory, Leishman said:
I putted as good as I probably ever have today. This feels pretty amazing. I wasn’t expecting this at the start of the day.
