Who? 34 year-old Swede Anna Nordqvist.
What? The 2021 AIG Women’s Open, her third major title.
Where? Carnoustie Golf Links, Angus, Scotland.
How? A tense final day saw up to a dozen different players in contention for the title at various points, but it was Nordqvist who used her major-winning experience to fire a solid closing 69 and pick up her first victory in four years on golf’s biggest stage. She was pushed all the way by Georgia Hall, Minjee Lee and Lizette Salas, as well as Nanna Koertz Madsen who held a share of the lead until a disastrous double bogey at the final hole dropped her back into a tie for fifth.
