The new Cobra King Speedzone irons deliver ultra-low centre of gravity and increased ball speeds, thanks to the brand’s first ever carbon fibre topline.

Cobra King Speedzone Irons

Cobra took inspiration from the design and construction of the world’s fastest cars and came up with five different zones of performance which make up two new sets of irons providing distance, consistency and forgiveness.

1. Light Zone

Two strips of carbon fibre replace steel both on the topline and underneath it, creating a new I-beam construction which saves weight and adds structural support.

Cobra King Speedzone Irons

Carbon fibre is 40% lighter than steel, and so this saves weight which can be repositioned lower in the head on the longer irons to produce better launch and ball speed.

2. Stability Zone

Cobra’s engineers have created a wider body design around the perimeter of the club to add high-speed stability, whilst also increasing MOI and lowering the centre of gravity. As a result, the brand says that this iron is both forgiving and accurate.

3. Power Zone

For most amateur golfers, the thing they are looking for with a new set of irons is speed and distance, and this is what Cobra are promising to deliver. Pwrshell Technology offers better speed and higher launch, even though the irons feature stronger lofts than a traditional set.

The new forged Pwrshell features an E9 face structure, helping to lower CG and create more power throuhg a deeper undercut speed channel.

4. Feel Zone

Despite giving both distance and forgiveness benefits in the new Speedzone iron, Cobra are still providing feel off the face thanks to a co-molded medallion system which dampens vibrations for better sound and feel across the face.

5. Spin Zone

Consistent trajectory and spin rates are ensured thanks to a new progressive spin technology which is 100% CNC milled throughout the set.

V-grooves from the 4-6 iron reduce spin, u-grooves on the 7-PW optimise spin and wedge-based grooves on the GW and SW produce maximum spin for shots around the green.

Tom Olsavsky, VP of R&D for Cobra Puma Golf, commented:

When designing irons, there is a delicate balance of delivering playability, feel and distance, and the Speedzone irons in both traditional and One Length make-ups provide all three attributes in spades.

The King Speedzone Variable length irons (RRP 699 steel) feature a progressive construction design, delivering progressive head shapes, grooves and hosel lengths that optimise launch and spin depending on the length of the iron.

Cobra King Speedzone Irons

The King Speedzone One Length irons, also 699, offer you all of the new Speedzone technologies in a design which allows you to develop a repeatable swing and setup. This is done by providing all of the irons with matching lengths, head weights and swing weights and has been made popular by PGA Tour star Bryson DeChambeau.

Both sets will be available from January 24th 2020.
