The Skechers Go Golf Drive 2 LX is a spikeless golf shoe that is as at home off the course as on it.

This means that it has many uses from wearing casually to the range, maybe sneaking in as clubhouse wear and of course, on the course.

The rubber grips on the sole are firm enough to provide traction on the grass or practice mat, whilst also being soft enough to make walking on concrete comfortable.

There are two versions of the Go Golf Drive 2 and the slightly more expensive LX version I tested features a premium leather upper and a more incognito embossed Skechers logo on the side and small printed one on the heel for around an extra £13/$15.

The upper is quite a robust structure and whilst it breaks in easily over time, it is quite supportive especially around the mid-foot and heel area to give you that lateral stabilty through the swing.

Not many street spikeless shoes of this style have this amount of structure and can lose their form over time, but you can feel that the Go Golf Drive 2 is more likely to stand the test of time and the broad laces and metal eyelets backs this up.

A lot of Skechers shoes tend to be quite low profile, but there is a more normal level of drop between heel and toe with the Drive 2.

The soft cushioning Resalyte mid-section represented by the black line in the white heel is soft and the underfoot cushioning is very good from the cushioning in the sole and the Goga Mat insole.

A little like memory foam beds, the Skechers sole does take your feet a little bit of time to get used too and it can get a touch on the warm side, but the breathability is good and keep your feet as dry as any other shoe.

The 'water resistant' H2GO Shield upper will keep out light dew and rain but the Go Golf Drive 2 is not classed as a fully waterproof shoe.

On the course the softer surface combines with the cushioning in the sole to provide a very comfortable ride and the traction on dry or firm surfaces was very good.

In softer conditions the sole did not clog up with any grass and the grip was sufficiently good, but as you might expect, not quite as sharp as a shoe with more studs closer together.

However this is not what the Go Golf Drive 2 LX is about and there are other Skechers Go Golf shoes that focus more on traction and spiked performance

The Go Golf Drive 2 shoe is that ideal all round hybrid spikeless shoe that seamlessly goes from the home, to the range, to the course and the club house without breaking stride.
