For the better golfer who prefers to hit irons to rescue woods, the Nike Pro Combo Utility Iron will go down a treat.

It has a great sound and feel and you can hit the ball high or low to order. There are a good variety of lofts and off the tee or from the fairway this club will be ideal.

Out of the semi rough it was a little better than a 2-iron, but not as good as a rescue wood or a fairway wood.

Unusually for a Nike club it is not drop dead gorgeous. The lines are clean, but it is really a built up long iron and therefore we think the market for the Pro Combo Utility Iron will be a niche for better players.

Unless they have an aversion to woods, higher handicappers would be better off with a rescue club or a 5 or 7 wood.
