When Tour Edge released the Exotics XJ1 driver it said it had been four years in the making.

Luckily for fans of the clubs, the manufacturer has now announced the arrival of the Exotics XJ1 fairway woods that continue the use of cutting edge technology to produce a club they say will benefit all players.

Tour Edge Exotics XJ1 Fairway

At the heart of the fairway is what Tour Edge engineers call a 'supermetal', a new ultra-lightweight 9-1-1 titanium that is 10% lighter than regular 6A4v titanium. The whole body of the XJ1 is made from this material meaning engineers are able to save significant weight to distribute around the rest of the club to increase MOI. In addition the strength of 9-1-1 enables it to be thinner and more reactive, even at lower swing speeds.

David Glod, president and founder of Tour Edge Golf explains the concept:

The Exotics brand was created to bring the best technology to the market. In previous models that benefited players with faster swing speeds. I am thrilled that the XJ1 fairway woods perform better for all golfers, but especially for low to mid swing speeds. Finally, an advanced technological club, with the Exotics stamp of approval, that improves the game for those who need it most.

The body is combined with a heavy tungsten sole that weighs 124 grams, two-thirds of the mass of the club head. This added weight generates high launch angles and produces a low centre of gravity for extremely easy to hit shots from any lie.

To adhere the titanium body to the tungsten sole the manufacturing team used combo brazing, which has proven to be the most effective method to join the two materials and meet the high level of quality control expected by Tour Edge.

The XJ1 face technology is streamlined for effectiveness, featuring SP 700 Beta Titanium to create super high COR, all over the face for more distance. The face is laser bonded to the body for consistent weighting along the seams and allowing for a larger face.

Double V variable face thickness (VFT) technology offers multiple levels of thickness that maximises the spring like effect from more points on the face. By thinning and thickening the face, the v-shapes produce a powerful launch for explosive distance even on off-centre hits.

Players can customise their XJ1 fairways as by adjusting the weight of the tungsten screw positioned in the heel to promote draw by helping a faster release of the club head through impact. Additional weights of 10, 14 and 16 grams are available.

The clubs have been paired with the ultra-stable and lightweight Fujikura Air Speeder shaft and are available in 3-wood (15 degree), 4-wood (17 degree), 5-wood (18 degree) and 7-wood (21 degree) for both men and women.
