Back in June we told you how TaylorMade had joined forces with Microsoft when the software giant released it's Golf Tile app running on Microsoft Band.

At the time TaylorMade gave us a glimpse of it's myRoundPro concept, a standalone analytics platform that has now gone live at www.myroundpro.com.

TaylorMade is encouraging golfers to sign up to try out all the features that it believes sit at the heart of helping golfers discover more about, and improve, their games.

Once you have played your round using the Golf Tile on the Microsoft Band you can now upload all that information seamlessly to your TaylorMade myRoundPro account which will then show the sort of stats that golfers have come to see as second nature, such as fairways hit, greens in regulation, sand saves and putts per round.

The key to the myRoundPro concept is the ability to take this information and drill down further to pull out more information using Strokes Gained which is fast becoming an accepted measure of true golfing performance.

The myRoundPro platform, which is optimised for desktop, laptop and tablet computers as well as for use on mobile devices, uses the Strokes Gained stat to identify areas that golfers can improve to lower their scores.

Strokes Gained was developed by Columbia Business School professor and author, Mark Broadie, who analysed millions of shots during professional golf rounds and thousands of amateur rounds to create a baseline to enable golfers to assess how they perform in all aspects of their game (from 1ft to 600 yards) in comparison to other golfers.

Strokes Gained calculations take into account the average number of shots for a professional or amateur golfer to get down from a given starting distance and starting lie condition and the average number of shots to get down from a given end distance and end lie condition.

MyRoundPro then uses a number of graphical tools, such as dispersion graphs and shot maps, to bring this information alive in a way that golfers can easily interpret and learn from.

TaylorMade's Vice President of Direct to Consumer & Digital, John Gonsalves, highlights why the company have invested in the platform:

Golf is a decidedly technical game and every little advantage helps,” said John Gonsalves, TaylorMade’s Vice President of Direct to Consumer & Digital.

We are extremely proud to offer players of all abilities an in-depth analytics platform in myRoundPro. At TaylorMade, innovation is the genesis of everything we do, which goes beyond our equipment. myRoundPro is truly an extension of our desire to enhance the game of golf in every way.
