The importance of getting fitted for the correct shaft is now mainstream. Less people are buying clubs without paying attention to this key element of performance and increasingly that means going beyond regular or stiff.

Nowhere is this precision more important than in your wedges where the ability to control trajectory and spin has a big impact on the number you write on the scorecard.

Nippon N.S Pro Modus 3 Wedge Shaft

The Japanese company Nippon recognise this and has developed a new wedge specific shaft, the N.S. Pro Modus 3, to deliver optimum short game performance.

Based on feedback from PGA Tour players the Modus 3 utilises cutting edge technology to deliver a lower trajectory with less variable spin and directional stability.

Nippon say the key to producing this is the combination of two technologies: Multi Heat Treatment (MHT) delivers optimum feel on short game shots whilst proprietary wall thickness adjustment technology provides the high-level of stability.

MHT allows each section of the shaft to be optimised specifically for short game shots. The grip section has been optimised to enhance launch conditions and head speed by increasing the weight and rigidity to optimise launch angle.

The tip of the shaft has been regulated to suppress variable spin that causes shots to balloon and allow players to control trajectory and therefore hit shots into the green with more confidence.

The Modus 3 is available in three weights (111g, 122g and 133g) that gives a further level of customisation with differing characteristics to allow players to pick the best shaft to match their style and current iron set.
