Cleveland Golf has been one of the 'unsung heroes' in the putter market in recent years, with an extensive range of models aimed at a variety of different golfers without ever gaining the popularity of the likes of Ping, Odyssey and Scotty Cameron.

However the brand will be hoping that 2019 is the turning point, as it has announced an update to its well-regarded Huntington Beach range, along with a revolutionary new Frontline series which offers a complete rethink on putter design...

Cleveland Frontline Putters

Cleveland Golf's new Frontline putter range represents a brand new process for creating a putter, based around a new weighting system which brings the centre of gravity further forward in the head, rather than the common theme of pushing it back.

Cleveland Frontline Putters

The aim of the Frontline range is to create a putter which is able to minimise the negative effects on mis-hits, to provide consistently straighter putts. To do this Cleveland has developed Tungsten Forward Weighting, where two Metal Injection Molded (MIM) tungsten weights are placed into the face of the putter.

Most mallets have consisted of more weight placed in the rear of the head, which can increase forgiveness on off-centre strikes, and this moves the centre of gravity back. However, the Frontline range focuses on a forward centre of gravity, which generates better accuracy.

Jacob Lambeth, Research and Development Engineer at Cleveland Golf:

We are very excited about Frontline because it is a completely new approach to putter design. By pairing an extreme centre of gravity with an improved speed optimised face, we've designed a putter that uniquely maximises directional and speed consistency.

Combined with slick black cosmetics, great shapes and hosel options for different stroke types, Frontline really is the whole package.

The Frontline range also features Cleveland Golf's Speed Optimised Face Technology (SOFT), which keeps ball speed much more consistent across the face for more reliable performance. Each putter style in the range features it's own unique pattern for even better results.

There are three different mallet options, which include Cleveland Golf's 2135 Technology which is said to aid with proper alignment regardless of where your eyes are positioned at address.

The range is available in two different hosel types - a single bend option which is ideal for straight stroke types, an a slant neck option which suits those with a slight arc stroke.

The key piece of technology in the new Huntington Beach putters is the new Speed Optimised Face Technology, which normalises ball speed across the face of the putter for consistent speed and distance no matter where you strike your putt.

There's a unique face-milling pattern for every head shape in these putters, with a gradual pattern on higher MOI models and a more rapid variation on lower MOI models.

The diamond-shaped pattern produces a softer feel at impact, whilst also delivering improved friction for a better roll.

Jeff Brunski, Vice President of Research and Development at Cleveland Golf, commented:

Cleveland Golf putters have always been a great value, but the Huntington Beach SOFT Putter, featuring a speed optimised face and premium finish, takes it to a new level.

The Huntington Beach Soft putter's speed optimised face is one of the most advanced technologies available to improve putting performance. You'll make more putts - plain and simple. The fact we're delivering it at such an aggressive price point makes this one of the best values in the market.
