Bridgestone golf has been busy building on the success of their star players Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker with a new line of irons that give both forged and cast options so there is a product for every golfer.
As with their successful ball fitting challenge the J15 irons family have been designed to be custom fitted to individual players and the wide variety of clubs on offer mean this service will be essential.
Bridgestone J15 Forged Irons
Crafted from a premium carbon steel the J15 forged irons have an exceptional feel and come in three distinct models. All of the irons feature Bridgestone's Sure Contact Sole providing a sole heel shaping that promotes the sort of turf interaction favoured by better players.
J15CB Cavity Back Irons
The J15CB are played by Kuchar and Snedeker and have a Tour inspired compact head to allow for creative shot making with control. The CB's have a wide Sure Contact Sole for consistent contact and turf interaction to givesa degree of forgiveness from a variety of lies.
J15DF Driving Forged Irons
The J15DF is a compact two-piece iron that offers both feel and forgiveness. A hollow cavity is hidden between the front and back of the club head and this boosts ball speed for extra distance from the iron. The weight moved from the cavity has been distributed around the perimeter of the club to boost MOI and forgiveness. Control is also given by the mid-round nature of the Sure Contact Sole in this model.
J15DPF Dual Pocket Forged Irons
The J15 DPF irons utilise a Turbo Rubber Design that allows more weight to be moved to the perimeter making these the highest MOI of the irons in the forged range. This forgiveness doesn't come at the expense of feel though and the mid-sized head gives a mix of confidence at address without removing control and shot making capability. A wide and rounded version of the Sure Contact Sole helps to add forgiveness on off-centre hits.
All of the Bridgestone J15 forged irons have True Temper Dynamic Gold DG Pro shafts, custom yellow Golf Pride Red grips and a standard set of 4-PW will retail at £699 with clubs available on an individual basis at £99.99.
Bridgestone J15 Cast Irons
The cast version of the J15 is aimed at golfers looking for distance and forgiveness in their irons. Bridgestone has put together a package that gives confidence at address, with a club head that has a thick top line and a generous offset whilst the Sure Contact Sole is wide and round, helping move the centre of gravity low and deep to get the ball in the air. Distance comes from a construction that has a channel undercut around the whole face to maximise ball speed across all impact locations.
The Bridgestone J15 cast irons come with Nippon N.S. Pro shafts and custom yellow Golf Pride Red grips. They retail at £549 for the standard set of 4-PW and are only available as a right handed club.
Bridgestone J15 Forged Wedge
The final piece of the Bridgestone J15 jigsaw is the J15 Forged Wedge. R&D and quality production has resulted in a unique forging process that allows the heel side of the sole to be made without any human intervention so this key area of the grind is consistent. This is key to the wedge as the Sure Contact Sole has been made with a reduced profile to make it playable from any lie.
The insides of the grooves has been made larger to channel dirt, water and debris away from the face so spin and consistent contact is improved regardless of the lie of the ball.
The wedge is a classic teardrop shape that is preferred by better players and comes in lofts of 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58° & 60° and will retail at £95.
